Auto Insurance Claims/loss of use

Question
I was without a vehicle for 45 days, and now the insurance company is offering me $10 a day for loss of use- that seems too low to me.  Is there a minimum amount for loss of use?

Answer
If this is a claim against the other drivers insurer, they owe you what it would cost to rent a car like yours per day. The time would be from the date of accident to when they make a "reasonable" or fair payment. So if they tried to lowball you and after 30 days of arguing they agreed to pay more on the car, then add that to the rental time. IMO it would be reasonable to allow 14 days to find and buy a replacement vehicle once you know the amount you have to work with.
