Auto Insurance Claims/Husband was T-boned while driving his work truck

Question
My husband was driving his work truck (pick-up truck) when a guy ran a red light and T-boned my husband sending him rolling.  They had to cut my husband out of the truck and took him to the hospital. The guy that hit him admitted running the red light in the police report and to his insurance company.  My husband, thank God, had no broken bones or other serious injuries. Minor cuts and abrasions, lower back pain (due to inflammation), and he does have a damaged rotator cuff, with micro tears, and is doing well and expected to heal well with physical therapy.  He was out of work for 2 1/2 weeks and workman comp did pay him a percentage of his pay.  But we are expecting to compensated by the insurance company of the guy who hit him for the rest of his pay as well as his glasses and cell phone that were lost in the accident. Also, unfortunately a couple of days after the accident my husbands father unexpectedly passed away and he could not make it home to Florida to attend the funeral.  We are very thankful that my husband is ok, but, this has really taken a toll on our family. We have three kids that I home school on top of my college course work. It has been difficult to juggle Dr. appt's, physical therapy appt's, the mental stress that I am having to support my husband through. He grabs me in the middle of the night while he is trying to hold onto something because he is dreaming that he is rolling in that truck.  The insurance company of the gentleman who hit him is saying that they are compiling the necessary information to reimburse him for his lost wages and will pay for his lost personal items.  But, I want to know if I should be asking for or expecting them to do more than that.

Answer
Wow Michelle,

yeah, there is a lot more that you need to ask for. There are few articles here http://www.auto-insurance-claim-advice.com/bodily-injury-claim.html that can help you understand his rights and what he can ask for.

You might have a loss of consortium claim also, but it depends on your state. Read about that here:

http://www.auto-insurance-claim-advice.com/loss-of-consortium.html

He will be able to ask for pain and suffering and other damages.

You might want to talk to a lawyer, there might be more to your claim than you think.
Also, if a lawyer is too expensive, you should read this eBook http://www.settleyourowninjuryclaim.com/

Still, you may want to go to a lawyer.

I hope this helps,

Good Luck
