Question
Hello,  We have a boxing team and a gym. We also have a van that we would like to purchase for trips to tournaments. We are not a business, we are a golden gloves charity. We raise money through fundraiser and donations. We cannot figure out who's name to put the insurance in. There will be 5 different volunteers driving the van for trips at any one time but we can't put it one person's name and let them be responsible. Are there any options?  Thanks

Answer
Hi Kerry

Well, you really need to talk to an agent. You might consider becoming a business or a small charity (organization). Some states will only charge $18 to $80 dollars to do that.
This is not a difficult process, but if you need help, an attorney can help you for not that much. This will allow you to be able to insure the van without putting one person at risk (one person’s policy).

Also, if you do drive on your own policy, your insurance company might not cover you because this is outside the personal use scope.

I hope this helps some
Good Luck
