Auto Insurance Claims/Wreck.

Question
I had a wreck this past sunday in a private parking lot.  It was my fault, but it only hurt my car.  We didn't call the police because it was on private property and he wasn't worried about it.  I want to file it on my insurance, but I don't know how to go about doing it.

DO I still need a police report and if so, what do i tell them? I have full coverage insurance, comp and collision.

Thanks.

Answer
Hello,

You can still file the claim. The longer you wait the harder it will be to adjust the claim. You do not need a police report as long this is not a hit and run (which it does not sound like it is).

You can tell the ins company what happened with the police and have them come out and evaluate your damages.
