We recently had someone run into our car it only looked like a few scratches at first, but then the door wouldn't open so we filed it with there insurance company and the insurance adjuster came to give us and estimate, he was able to get the door to open and you can barely tell that there is any damage and the door works just fine.
Were scheduled to take the car into the shop this week, and the insurance company (USAA) sent us a check for the repairs. Since the damage is extremely minimal and the door works just fine now, do we have to use the money to fix the car or can we keep it?

You can keep the money. They are paying for your damage, but it's up to you to decide what you do with the money. This is a common scenario when damages are low. Some people rather live with the damage and keep the money.

If the damage was substantial, the insurance company would have to notify your lending institution (if you have one), but other than that, you are on the clear.
