Question
If I was hit by a car that was in pursuit of the cops head-on and neither one of us had bodily injury insurance wat should I do?

Answer
Hi Jessica,
I am not knowledgeable regarding Canadian insurance or Canadian law
except from what I learned searching the web last week trying to assist someone from Ontario.
I do know that auto insurance is mandatory in all provinces with a minimum of $300,000 liability except in the province of Quebec,
where the minimum is $50,000.

There is probably some system of citing drivers found to be without insurance.  If so, you will be mailed a citation if you did not receive one at the scene of the accident.

You should have legal recourse to recover damages from the person that hit you and possible recover economic losses.  I don't know if
you would be allowed to recover a settlement for pain and suffering.
Also, since the person that hit you was uninsured, the odds are that
such person has no assets.

In such case, even if you secured a judgement, it would be uncollectible.

I am aware that in some states in the US, the police are required to discontinue pursuit in cases when speed hits a certain limit or due
to traffic congestion there is a high probability that their pursuit will cause an accident.

My best suggestion is that you arrange an appointment for a consultation with an attorney to learn your legal options under Canadian law.

I hope that you find this to be of help.

Sincerely,
Bennie

you
