Auto Insurance Claims/car scratch in parking lot

Question
Hi There, quick question. I was loading my groceries into my car and then decided to put the shopping cart back when the cart bumped another cart and hit the car parked in front of me. The cart barely bumped her car and I didn't see any damage, she meanly took our license plate number as we were driving away. If she reports this, what really can actually be done about it?
Thanks a lot,
Sher

Answer
Hello Sher,

well, this is actually a pretty complicated question that would require the actual language of your auto policy. You are very likely responsible for the damage you caused (if you are found negligent), the question will be if your auto policy would pay for it.

It depends if there is coverage for loading and unloading and what your state case law says about this situation. A coverage investigation would have to be done by your insurance company. I am sorry I cannot guide you more.
