Auto Insurance Claims/borrowed vehicle

Question
while my truck was being repaired the mechanic(a friend of a
friend) let me borrow his car - i was in an accident in this
vehicle.(three years ago) I informed him of the accident and
returned his car which he fixed but apparently his insurance
company denied the claim and I am being sued by the woman i
hit insurance company (AMICA)as they paid the claim. The
mechanic is also being sued. I had insurance on my vehicle
(also through Amica) that was being repaired but just
compulsory as it was only worth 1000 at most. I am unsure
why his insurance co denied the claim and am wondering what
the laws are for massachusetts as in who should be
responsible. I did not rent the car from him but Amica is
still saying that it falls under collision coverage which i
did not have. I am a single mother without any assets and
don't have the money for a lawyer. I go to court tomorrow
and am unaware whether the mechanic will show as i haven't
spoken to him in three years- what will happen if that is
the case?  Thank you for any incite regarding mass insurance
claims

Answer
Hi Dawn,
Yes, you certainly need some help.  I just don't understand as to
why you waited until the day before you have to be in court before
you bothered to ask.

I am on the west coast and most of the states that have no-fault
insurance laws are on the east coast.  Mass is a no-fault insurance
state.  Since there is not a no-fault insurance state within 1,500
miles, I just don't have time to learn and keep up to date on their laws.  Every no-fault state (there are about 12) has a plan that is
different than the other.

I want to redirect you to a person who can answer your question.

Get back on the computer and go back to allexperts.com and click on Personal Insurance.

This time instead of clicking on auto claims, click on Insurance Law
and present your question to RICHARD.  He is a no-fault administrator
in New York and is thoroughly familiar with Mass no-fault.

Good Luck,
