Auto Insurance Claims/Car Accident

Question
I was in a car accident recently in OHIO and we switched insurance info but no police report was filed. It is now 2 days later and she is claiming it was my fault. I think it was her fault. How is it determined who was at fault if there's no report? Will I have to pay for her damages, even if I think she's at fault, or will the insurance companies make us pay for our own damages?

Answer
Hi Jennifer,

Each of you should report this to your own insurance company. You will tell your insurance company what happened. Your insurance company will also call the other driver to take their statement. Then the insurance adjuster will decide who is at fault. If your insurance company decides that you were not at fault they will seek reimbursement from the other insurance company and dito for the other insurance company.

I hope this helps
