Question
my car was recently paid off. I never obtained title. The dealer is now closed. How do I obtain title to car to sell car?

Answer
Hi Ressie,

You have to track down the dealer. You can go online to your states department of corporations website to see if you can get any information about any of the owners or officers of the business. Once you have their names, you can try to look up their phone numbers to try to call them.

Another option would be to call your state DMV. If you have good records showing that the car was paid off, you may be able to apply for a duplicate title. The final option would be to hire an attorney to track then down and possible file suit if they don't provide the title.

I hope this helps
