Question
I loaned a friend my vehicle. She moved & I cannot locate her or have any contact with her. I notified the police & they put the report into NCI database. I contacted the insurance company & completed the theft of vehicle report. The police called it unauthorized driver. In the database it states stolen. The insurance company want me to attest the vehicle stolen. I am comfortable stating unauthorized use. What is the difference between unauthorized driver & theft of vehicle in PA?

Answer
Hi Joyce,

I am not familiar with specific PA law as I am not an attorney. However I can tell you that your insurance company will likely not pay out on the claim unless it is classified as a stolen vehicle, you report it as a stolen vehicle and you are willing to press charges against your friend if the vehicle or your friend are ever located.

I hope this helps
