Auto Insurance Claims/hit and run/passenger had to go the hospital

Question
Hi, recently I was the passenger in a hit and run. The car was not too damaged, but the bumper will still need to be replaced. When we were hit, my head was slammed against the head rest pretty bad, and I had an immediate headache. We were able to drive after the car to get their license plate number, and we called the police. They told us to go to the police station to file our report. After we filed the report, it was about two and a half hours later, and I still had a head ache. It was not too awful of a headache or anything, but the driver ended up taking me to the emergency room just in case. We had to wait for five hours before I was seen, and the doctor ended up saying I was ok.  We finally got the police report back, but they did not get any information on the driver. They said they were just about to get information on the owner of the vehicle.  How do I go about filing charges against them to get my hospital bills paid for? Does this have to go through the driver at all?

Answer
Hello Eva,

You can file against the insurance company of the policy the car you were at. The PIP coverage should protect you there.

There is not much more you can do

Good Luck
