Auto Insurance Claims/Valet driver

Question
After handing my keys to a valet driver at a hospital, my car was hit by another car while the valet was driving. Which insurance should cover the damages? Mine, the driver who hit my car, or the valet company? It obviously wasn't my fault, and its questionable at this point if it was the valet driver or the other driver since there was no stop sign on either side. This happened in a parking lot.

Answer
Hi Rebecca,

There will have to be a liability decision between the insurance companies of the valet company and the other vehicle driver. Depending on who they decide is at fault will determine who should pay for your damages. If they decide it is 50/50 then they will each pay half.

If you do not wnat to wait around for them to make a decision, you can put the claim thtough your own insurance company and then they will seek reimbusement from the other companies. There will be no affect on your policy for doing this and your premiums will not be increased.

I hope this helps
