Auto Insurance Claims/Auto Policy

Question
Hi Anne,
I do not know if your expertise would know about this but if you can help I would appreciate it. I recently got a speeding ticket and I got it reduced to a two point non-moving violation, failure to comply.  Will non-moving violations affect insurance rates?  Other than a parking ticket almost 10 years ago this is the first thing I have ever had. I live in NY state if that makes any difference and you happen to know anything about how it would work here.
Thank you,
Justin

Answer
Hello Justin,

It should affect too much, but it will some. If the insurance company finds out, then they will believe that you are a more at risk driver (evidence by the citation). It is not a huge deal and if is, consider getting a new policy with a new carrier.

Bottom line is that you have a good driving record. Don't let this become an issue. It should not be.

Good Luck
