Auto Insurance Claims/Woodchuck ate my wires in my car

Question
I was parked in my company parking lot and decided to drive to lunch.  I tried to start up my car but nothing happened.  I looked under the hood and found that something ate all the wires under the hood.  We later found out it was a woodchuck because it was in another workers car.  We found the woodchuck as it was climbing out of his engine.  Is this something that my insurance should cover?

Answer
Hi Michael,

It sounds like some kind of Caddyshack sequel movie!  Yes, this comes under your comprehensive policy.  Your rates cannot be raised for using your policy since this is not an at-fault claim.

You will have to cover the deductible, so if it is high, you will likely just pay out of pocket for the repairs.

Interesting story, though.  Maybe sell it to Reader's Digest and earn the money to do the repairs.

Best wishes,
