Expert: Doctor Settlement - 7/11/2006

Dr Settlement,

Just a quick update: After my ex husband's adjuster refused to take a statement from me, I called USAA back and demanded that I'd like to give a recorded statement and supplement my original statement that might make a difference on the outcome of the investigation.  They called me back the next day to take my statement, in which I told them that I gave my daughter permission to drive my car on few different occasions.

Make long story short, after listening to my second statement, USAA's legal department has decided that Stacy had my permission to drive the car and that they'd cover my and third party's car. My adjuster called me today and told me that since I granted Stacy  a standing permission to drive my car, this would show as at-fault accident on my policy and my ex's policy would  pay for the damages on my car including rental. We paid the third party $450.00 for the damages on his car, and when I told USAA this, the adjuster said that USAA would reimburse that money. I asked her if I didn't ask for reimbursement, would the accident  still be an at-fault and count against my policy, and she replied by saying, " yes, it would since there's been an accident."

I guess the good news is, my car will be repaired and I will not even be responsible for the deductible, and the bad news is that at-fault accident decision might affect my policy and it will probably cause my rate go up, that is if USAA doesn't drop me off!
