Question
i was wondering what engines i could swap out for my 3.1l v-6 in my 1995 grand am gt and is it at all possible to increase to a 3400 or a 3600

Answer
Any '94-'99 3.1 FWD would work in your car.  There was a 3.4 version of this engine used in 1999 only, but I would suspect that it is very rare.  I am also not sure that you could use it.  There is a 3.3 engine, Buick derived, that was available in the Grand Am and similar chassis, but it would be a lot of work to switch to it and it didn't make any more power than the 3.1.  The 3.1 and its 2.8 ancestor were very good engines and made good power for their displacement.  Of course you could always build a custom crank and build a stroker version of the 3.1 but it would cost a lot more than the car is worth.
