i need to know what other 3.4l engines are interchangeable with a 99 grand am.  i found a 3.4l from a 93 grand prix but wasn't sure if it would work.  thank you

    The 3.4 used in the 93 Grand Prix was a completely different engine from yours, having no parts in common.  Having said that, if you were a genius you could probably get it to work.  The 93 and earlier cars did not use the OBDII computer system that your car has (and all cars since '94).  So, if you are looking for an engine, you should look for a 3.4 from a '96 and later GM minivan, or a '99-'05 GM front wheel drive car.  This engine is basically a bored-out 3.1, but I doubt if you could get a 3.1 to work with all of the parts in your car.
