Auto Parts/Volvo On Call System

Question
My XC70 contacted the on-call service erroneously. The dealer is quoting over £1200 for a new module. Do you know which module is responsible for the on-call system please?

Answer
Volvo uses a LAN system like many other European manufacturers, so a separate module for the on-call system is there, but it can't possibly cause that much to repair.  I think that I would be tempted to find a qualified independent mechanic to take a look at it.  Any decent-sized community ought to have at least one fellow who is capable of this sort of work.  I really don't know where the modules are located on Volvos, just that Volvo has a well-earned reputation of charging too much for parts and service.  It's one of the reasons that, in spite of the durability of their product, they have relatively low resale value.
