Auto Parts/98 Blazer Compass/temp display malfunction

Question
Hi Mike.  My compass/temp display in my 98 blazer is stuck on 0ºC and I was wondering if you knew how to reset it?  I've pulled fuses, looked in the manual and reset it according to that but it still stays stuck.  I'm not sure what happened...

Answer
I am not sure, 'cause I've never seen one fail, but I think it's the sensor that has gone bad.  Unless, for some reason, the wire to the sensor has been broken or disconnected.  I'm not sure where they put the sensor, either.  On most GM cars, it is located near the base of the windshield, but a truck may have it in a different place.  Seems to me that some of them are located in the driver's side mirror housing.  Anyway, I'd bet that that sensor has become damaged or disconnected.
