What would I have to do to make a transmission from a 1990 chevy van that is 2wd fit in a 1990 chevy truck that is 4wd? Both trannys are 700r4's.
You will have to go and buy another 4WD transmission. Although they are mostly similar, there are enough differences between 2WD and 4WD 700R4s to make this a losing proposition. Maybe you can trade the van transmission for a 4Wd transmission but, unless you are transmission mechanic with a load of spare parts lying around, this swap should not be attempted.
