Question
Hi there,I have a 97 Monte Carlo(3.4 DOHC),my engine is shot, due to a broken timing belt/chain? I have found a 2000 Buick Regal(3.8).I was wondering weather this Buick engine would fit in my Monte Carlo or should I keep looking? The Buick engine is in good shape and the price is perfect, just unsure if I can use it or not. Thank you for your time.

Answer
It wouldn't be impossible, but you don't want to try it.  It would be much cheaper to buy a nice 3.4DOHC at a wrecking yard.  Plus, 3.8s have bottom end problems it they haven't been properly maintained, and it's hard to know that no matter how well you know the owner of the car.  I wouldn't do it.
