Auto Parts/Transmisson interchanging

Question
Is it possible to interchange a transmission from a 1990 Mitsubishi to an 2000 Mitsubishi eclipse they are both five speed manuals and both have four cylinder engines.

Answer
I really don't know for sure.  Mitsubishi makes their own transmissions, so it's possible that they didn't change a lot of things.  However, the older car is not OBDII, and the newer on is.  The powertrain computer controls and gets data from the transmission as well as the engine, and the older trans has no facility for this.  Based on that fact, I would have to say no.
