    I'm not sure what you mean by this.  There is an alternator, a battery, and a belt.  This is pretty much the whole charging system.  In the old days there was a voltage regulator, but that is now built into the alternator assembly.  One thing I can tell you: most people who think that their alternator is bad are wrong.  It is far more likely to be the battery.
