Auto Parts/Pontiac Sunfire Oil Cap

Question
Hi Mike,

I drive a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire and noticed that the oil cap is very loose fitting.  I was wondering if there is a gasket or something that fits under the oil cap or if this is just normal?

Thanks in advance.

Brett

Answer
There should be an O-ring that takes the strain of tightening the cap and thus prevents it from loosening.  The O-ring could be dried out, which would keep it from doing its job.  Or it could be missing.  Look at the underside of the cap and see if it's there.  A new cap is pretty cheap at the parts store.
