Question
I have a 1981 Mercury Zephyr Z7 automatic straight 6. I need a carburetor. I haven't been able to locate one. Do you know where I may find one? I live in Louisville,Ky. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

You will not be able to find a new one, but you could find a rebuilt one from Rockauto.com. Or, if you still have the old one, you could rebuild it with a kit from Tomco or from any good parts store. This is a very simple carburetor and a chimpanzee could probably do the job in an afternoon (if he has all of the parts). One piece of advice: buy a new float in addition to the kit if you choose to rebuild.
