how do u check the fluid on a 1997 chevy cavalier if theres no dipstick?people say u can get to it from the driver firewall but i cant find it.

    I assume that we're talking about the transmission fluid.  Answer is: you can't check it.  It was designed that way.  If you have a reasonable suspicion that it might not be full (visible leak, slow shifting), you should take it to a dealer or a transmission shop and have them service it with a new filter and the correct amount of fluid.  If it is visibly leaking, have them fix that, too.  This vehicle is plenty old enough to need a complete trans service.
