Question
I have a late 1960's 292cid GM engine out of a C50 looking for a Four speed car transmission that I can use in an International truck to keep the three on the tree look. I came a crossed 1969- 1971 cougar transmission that looks similar to the borg warner T10 but has a longer tail shaft, My question is, will this bolt to the bell housing for the T10 or any other GM/borg warner transmission. Clutch mixing is not a problem.

Answer
No, you will need to have a Chevy transmission.  Even BOP (Buick, Olds, Pontiac) transmissions will not bolt to the 292.  However, any Chevy, including big and small block V8s and sixes will work.  If you want that shifter on the column, though, you are almost going to have to use a 3-speed.  I'm not saying you couldn't get a 4 speed to work, but it would be a real job, with a lot of fabrication.
