Auto Parts/mazda shaking

Question
Hi.  I have a 2000 Mazda protege' and when I drive under 40, I experience a little shaking and bumping ( feels like I'm going over small humps).  However, when I drive over 40 the shaking is 10 times worse and the bumping is also more intense like I'm going over speed bumps.  Also, I cannot go over 60. Do you have an idea what this could be?

Thanks

Answer
Hello Lynnsie,

It sounds to me like to have a bad motor mount.  A bad Mount (The piece that holds the MOTOR to the CHASSIS), would absolutely cause the problems you are experiencing.

I would recommend either checking the mounts yourself, looking for cracks or breaks or any other damage to them that would indicate needing replacement, otherwise bring the vehicle to a mechanic and have them inspect the motor mounts for you.  Many mechanics wont even charge a fee for this, as it requires only a few minutes of their time.

I hope this was helpful.

Please keep me informed of your progress.

Thank you and good luck
