Question
Todd,
Hate to ask this question but I am not familiar with the 305 heads. I am installing a set of stock 305 heads, #14014416, on a stock 1964 Chevy block #3849852. Is there a left & right 305 head??? If so how is it identified??? I see there is an extra exhaust manifold mounting hole on each head. Looking at the heads if I install them the extra exhaust manifold mounting hole ends up on #8 cylinder & #1 cylinder. Does it matter which head goes on the left or right side??? Thank you.
Al

Answer
Hi Al,
After doing some research I have been unable to find anything that says anything about the heads being different on your 305. They both have the same Head gasket also, which is a good sign. About the only thing that I could find on the subject was an article that said this:
"Not all cylinder heads apply to this engine due to valves having bore interference or shrouding issues with the narrow bore of the 305 engine".

I'm sorry that I couldn't help you more, but the 305 isn't commonly used in Australia and I am unfamiliar with the engine.

Todd.
