Question
Is it ok to put teplon tape on a fuel systems national pipe thread an fitting?I didnt but the  nipple felt like it was cutting into the fuel regulator I screwed it in ,they were both 3/8 npt Im worried about shaving getting into my carburator.are they designed to cut into seal the threads?

Answer
Hi JB

I use teflon tape on PIPE connections, but NOT on AN fittings.  The AN fittings are designed to seal perfectly with no added stuff.

Sounds like your fuel regulator is made of pot metal.  I like the one that has 3 3/8 NPT openings and is regulated with an Allen head tension screw.  They're about $25.00 from places like Pegasus and Jegs.

Nearly all carbs have a fine screen filter in the inlet port immediately before the needle valve.

Hope this is a help !!
