Question
hi am 21  and i love my cars and i have a big interest in racing could you please help me where i can start from. i am from England. thank you

Answer
Hi Shima!

OK  are you FROM England- - -or are you IN England ?? Big difference.  If you are IN England you are lucky to be in a country that loves it's motor racing and it's racing drivers.

Start by going to the British Auto Racing Club or < www.barc.com > for information.  You should find enough information there to keep you busy, and your wallet empty for the next year anyway. Most drivers start by racing go karts or something else small, and graduate to bigger cars when they are able, both in ability and financially.

I'd also suggest a Google search for other sites in England for drivers schools, mechanic's schools and the like.  Since I'm assuming you are living in the UK there isn't much I can do to advise you further, until you've done some research on your own and found what you can do nearby.

One other thing though, you MUST stay in school, you will get nowhere in modern motor sports without a decent education.  If university is in your future, think about trying for a degree in Automotive or Mechanical Engineering.

I'd be happy to answer further questions, feel free to write again.

Experience

I have been racing for 20 years, I have been the Central Florida SCCA Regional Championship points for 5 years running, and won the championship in my class 2 times. During my first start in the 60's I won many solo awards and the State Championship Drags. I serve as a senior instructor for SCCA, and have taught in Mercedes AMG events at Daytona, and Dodge Viper Days at Sebring International. I have been in the thick of the competition for all of my career. At one time or another I have driven race cars at speeds nearing 195 MPH. It's quite a ride !
