Question
QUESTION: My kid is 12 years old and he loves racing, cars and going fast. So I want to put him in kart racing in or near Surrey, BC. Can you help me find the best and most popular kart racing school/club?

ANSWER:  On the web, look for World Karting Association, they will have all the information on local tracks, events , suppliers and such.

You are on the right path for a future in racing for your child, but the persons personality plays a big part in their professional success later on.  I suggest a course or two in human relations, public speaking, and motivational speaking.  The Dale Carnegie organization has some wonderful courses for shy young people.

That said, I thank you for asking, I wish every day that my parents had shown even the slightest interest in what I wanted.

BEst of luck to both of you -- -let me know of his progress !

Sincerely,

QUESTION: There doesn't seem to be WKA in canada. What others are there?

Answer
Here's  one I found http://www.ontario.worldweb.com/ToursActivitiesAdventures/Go-KartRacing/

Go to Google, type in "go cart racing canada"  there are many many more.  I am afraid I don't know enough about Canadian geography to pick those closest to you. I think if you persue a few of the links you'll find a national or an international carting association that should be able to lead you to the places you need to find.  You ARE on the right track!

Again , Good luck

Experience

I have been racing for 20 years, I have been the Central Florida SCCA Regional Championship points for 5 years running, and won the championship in my class 2 times. During my first start in the 60's I won many solo awards and the State Championship Drags. I serve as a senior instructor for SCCA, and have taught in Mercedes AMG events at Daytona, and Dodge Viper Days at Sebring International. I have been in the thick of the competition for all of my career. At one time or another I have driven race cars at speeds nearing 195 MPH. It's quite a ride !
