Question
I have read the questions from cale in los vegas. I have to say a lot of good replies and I am looking into the book you mentioned. But i would like to know how difficult would it be to get into the super gt, gt300 series racing? and I am also in the military at the moment I am 19, and i have a very strong ambition to race. I had looked into racing for mazda in the miata circut to get started but i bought a honda civic and i would like to know is there anywhere or anyway you know to start with a stock or modified production car? i live in florida which from your bio you have raced there often and i would love to know all i can. I will do anything i can and will not stop till i am on a track lol. thanks
Greg

Answer
Hi Greg:

First you should join Sports car Club of America. Go to www.scca.org fori nfo, or go straight for the Central Florida Region (of which I am a mamber) and join from there, there web address is www.cfrscca.org  Find the district nearest you and contact them.  Once you have attended a few meetings you will develop a better feel for getting started in racing and I'll be able to help you further. Write back when you've become a member.

IN the meantime, STAY IN SCHOOL

Experience

I have been racing for 20 years, I have been the Central Florida SCCA Regional Championship points for 5 years running, and won the championship in my class 2 times. During my first start in the 60's I won many solo awards and the State Championship Drags. I serve as a senior instructor for SCCA, and have taught in Mercedes AMG events at Daytona, and Dodge Viper Days at Sebring International. I have been in the thick of the competition for all of my career. At one time or another I have driven race cars at speeds nearing 195 MPH. It's quite a ride !
