Question
Dear Dan I was wondering how would i start a career in rally car racing I'm 19 and no longer in school but i have great pation for racing and i come from a family of racers. all my family has retired from the sport cause our local dirt track has been shutdown and they just got to old to keep racing i ask them for help but they refused so I'm asking you

Answer
Hi Destin

The only Rally group that I know of is the Sports car Club of America, www.scca.org  will get you there. They sanction a lot of rallying in the north and northeast parts of the country.

Sadly, that part of motorsports draws no interest around here.  I haven't even heard of a rally in the southeast for years.

So I'd suggest you contact SCCA at the above address, the home page will direct you to local Regions.  From there you make phone calls, attend meetings , join the club and go for it.

Best of Luck !

Experience

I have been racing for 20 years, I have been the Central Florida SCCA Regional Championship points for 5 years running, and won the championship in my class 2 times. During my first start in the 60's I won many solo awards and the State Championship Drags. I serve as a senior instructor for SCCA, and have taught in Mercedes AMG events at Daytona, and Dodge Viper Days at Sebring International. I have been in the thick of the competition for all of my career. At one time or another I have driven race cars at speeds nearing 195 MPH. It's quite a ride !
