Question
QUESTION: my v8 class has just been eliminated.  I am going to move into the 6cylinder class.  Most of the drivers are running 4.3l vortec engines.
From what I can find online the 4200 has much more horsepoweer. I would like to run a 4200 Vortec out of a 2002 trailblazer (i run an 85 firebird).
My question is this: Can i put a carb on the 4200?
Doug

ANSWER: Im sure you can , it's a matter of finding the right manifold, and the right carb for what you have been doing .

I think in your case you'd be better off to call Summit Racing's tech line and see what they have to say. Go to their website for more info (www.summitracing.com)

Keep in mind though , that the Vortech makes the power it does because of the highly efficient fuel injection system. Removing it in favor of a cxarb will cost you some power.

Good luck

QUESTION: Okay, i will try the guys at summit.  Thank you for you quick response.  But before i go i would like to ask you one more quick question - If the 4200 isn't feasible, do you have any suggestions/prefernences for a 6cylinder engine (we must run a carb at our track)?
Doug

Answer
I'm sure you can use it, will it work well? I couldn't say.  I don't have any experience with GM Engines and none with circle track applications.

For more info on engines, write to Randy Cooper at: fastcash@cehighperformance.com  he does well with drag racers.

I can help you with chassis questions, but it appears you are beyond that stage.

Again, good luck

I have been racing for 20 years, I have been the Central Florida SCCA Regional Championship points for 5 years running, and won the championship in my class 2 times. During my first start in the 60's I won many solo awards and the State Championship Drags.
