Question
Which type of cold air intake should I buy for a 2005 Mitsubishi Eclipse gt to get the biggest increase in horse power

Answer
Hi Dan:

Normally I don't offer advice for street cars, but this one is a no-brainer.  Buy a K&N FIPK  (Fuel Injection Performance Kit)   They run in the neighborhood of $200.00 depending on the car.  They are the result of many years of research and engineering. A good source would be Summit Racing (www.summitracing.com).  If you call their tech line, they will have facts and figures that will help you.

If K&N doesn't offer a performance kit for your car, you can assume that the intake system is already adequate for your engine.  In that case, simply buy the K&N filter for it and leave it alone.

Enjoy !

Experience

I have been racing for 20 years, I have been the Central Florida SCCA Regional Championship points for 5 years running, and won the championship in my class 2 times. During my first start in the 60's I won many solo awards and the State Championship Drags. I serve as a senior instructor for SCCA, and have taught in Mercedes AMG events at Daytona, and Dodge Viper Days at Sebring International. I have been in the thick of the competition for all of my career. At one time or another I have driven race cars at speeds nearing 195 MPH. It's quite a ride !
