Question
I have a  Air line on my turbo that runs from my waste gate to my Turbo control and have not been able to find one that won't melt under the high heat. Do you know where i Can find one? What is it called? Thank you for your time. -Benjamin

Answer
Hi Benjamin:

Your first step is to find our HOW high the heat is.  The maximum temperature the  hose will have to deal with is important.  Then you should select a hose that is able to stand 200% of that heat if possible. So say the max temperature you will see is 350 degrees F.  then you want a hose that will stand 700 Deg.   This is a best case scenario , get the best you can.

Next you should do a search for a local supplier of Hydraulic and air power products.  Most racers feel Aeroquip is the best manufacturer in terms of hose and fittings, and I agree.  So look around for an Aeroquip dealer and go from there.  You'll need to do some research in their hose catalog, then settle on the hose you need, and fittings to complete the job. Even with the 100% safety margin in the hose, you should plan on changing it about every other race season. If it's for street use, about every 20,000 miles.

Finally, there is a tech support line at Summit Racing, you pay for a long distance call, but it's worth it.  Their website is "www.summitracing.com" and should have the phone numbers. They are also one of the best Aeroquip dealers in the country.

Good luck

Experience

I have been racing for 20 years, I have been the Central Florida SCCA Regional Championship points for 5 years running, and won the championship in my class 2 times. During my first start in the 60's I won many solo awards and the State Championship Drags. I serve as a senior instructor for SCCA, and have taught in Mercedes AMG events at Daytona, and Dodge Viper Days at Sebring International. I have been in the thick of the competition for all of my career. At one time or another I have driven race cars at speeds nearing 195 MPH. It's quite a ride !
