Answer
HI Brent !

You are wise to avoid the turbo and all the related complications.  Just more stuff to break.

You can do the extractors, have a customn racing exhaust built, where they use mandrel bends instead of the pipe bender to make up the pipes. It's probably twice as expensive.  For the CA-18 engine, use 2 1/4" pipe for a good balance between street and track.

Also use a K&N fuel injection kit. (FIPK)   You can order it at www.summitracing.com though they probably don't stock it.

If you are going to the expense of porting and polishing the head, you might as well add hi performance camshafts.  Ask for a relatively mild grind for your purposes.  A full race cam (that everybody tells you about) isn't usable on the street.

Suspension questions I can answer when you have specific questions.

Good luck

Experience

I have been racing for 20 years, I have been the Central Florida SCCA Regional Championship points for 5 years running, and won the championship in my class 2 times. During my first start in the 60's I won many solo awards and the State Championship Drags. I serve as a senior instructor for SCCA, and have taught in Mercedes AMG events at Daytona, and Dodge Viper Days at Sebring International. I have been in the thick of the competition for all of my career. At one time or another I have driven race cars at speeds nearing 195 MPH. It's quite a ride !
