Question
i am not a street racer. i own a honda civic and just want to install an intake system, a header and muffler system. do i need to change my entire muffler system or just the barrel. the stock system may be restricting the flow....i know that this is petty stuff but i still would like to have a suggestion. i live in trinidad and tobago. a caribbean island.

Answer
Hey Amar- - - I know where Trinidad is, I've been there (41 years ago) and my son is in medical school at St. Geroge's School of Medicine on Grenada- - - stop and say 'hi' sometime.

And the same son has a Honda Civic (in storage right now) that is tricked out with headers, large exhaust pipe, and flow through muffler. Everything you do is a help. Some of it you won't feel in the seat, but it will show up on a stopwatch at the drag strip.

For your intake system, take a close look at the K&N fuel injection performance kit. For most cars they are about $180.00USD and in some cases can add as much as 20% to your horsepower.

Hope that answers your question, and feel free to write again if you need to

I have been racing for 20 years, I have been the Central Florida SCCA Regional Championship points for 5 years running, and won the championship in my class 2 times. During my first start in the 60's I won many solo awards and the State Championship Drags. I serve as a senior instructor for SCCA, and have taught in Mercedes AMG events at Daytona, and Dodge Viper Days at Sebring International. I have been in the thick of the competition for all of my career. At one time or another I have driven race cars at speeds nearing 195 MPH. It's quite a ride !
