Expert: INSTALLSUPPORT - 8/19/2007

Question
My 1197 Ford F150 will not start and it seems to be related to the anti-theft devise. The door locks still work but when I push the lock button for a second time (which normally activates the system) the door locks vibrate up and down and there is not the usual horn sound. When I push to unlock, the doors unlock but the "theft" light stays on and there is no power to the ignition, no interior lights and there is a clicking sound coming from one of the relays in the fuse panel.  Changing the relay did not help.

Ok, on ome models (yours it looks like)
of this vehicle are equipped with PATS
(Passive Anti Theft System).

It appears that you've reset the PATS somehow.
The car does not recognise the chip in the ignition
key any longer.

The PATS needs to be reprogrammed I believe.
You can tow it to any FORD vehicle dealer
to have the service department re code it.
Call the dealer to verify what I am saying.

The troube is in the ignition at the reader
probably, but Ford will need to determine that.
