Question
Is there an easy way to determine if this car is equipped with a transponder? It was purchased used and I would like to add a remote start/alarm system.

Well, I know that 90% of the US version
of this vehicle did have the Toyota transponder key
(gray in color).
The easiest way will cost ya 3.00 at the hardware store.
Get a standard aluminum key made and try it.
If you have an earlier 2000 version with the black key,
you might get lucky. If not, You will need
a bypass module regardless of what you purchase,
remote starter wise.
