Auto Theft Prevention/2002 Alero Passlock sys
Expert: INSTALLSUPPORT - 12/10/2007
QuestionQUESTION: The passlock sensor on my 2002 Alero is starting to fail intermitantly. When it fails, there is no starting response. Nothing. The security light starts flashing. I can usually come back a few hours later and it starts fine. It seems like the problem is in the passlock sensor/key switch assy. I've done a lot of searching on the internet and it seems like this problem is difficult to fix permanentely. I read one of your responses stating that you sell a module that will "bypass" the passlock system by sending the proper signal to the control module to allow the car to start reliably. I don't want a remote starter system, just a bypass system. I'm more interested in reliability than security, so I'm ready to scrap the security function.
Thanks, Scott
ANSWER: It's true. The PLJX module
at www.passlock2.com would do the job
you need and instead of momentarily
bypassing with a (-) pulse as in a remote
starter, you would ground the wire to the
chassis for a permanent bypass of the
PASSLOCK 2 system you have in the Olds..
It works.
In stock and ready to ship if you want one.
Have a good evening.

QUESTION: Can you recommend an installer in the Rockville MD area to install the PLJX module?
ANSWER: If I have anyone, they would be listed at

QUESTION: Two questions:
1) if I run the PLJX all the time (ground the (-) wire), won't the car's control module be receiving the passlock2 resistance from both the key and the PLJX module? How does that work?
2) The PLDATA module looks like it is easier to install, could I use that (full time) instead of the PLJX?
AnswerNo, if it's always grounded, then it will not allow
PASSLOCK to engage at all. Gone.
Then it won't matter what key is used, but it is suggested
you get a standard, harware store cut key to
prevent any conflicts.
And the PLDAYA system is simular, if you like that option
then go that way.
