Question
QUESTION: My mom has a 2004 chevy impala, a few days ago, the light came on and has been steady since. Also she is experiencing scratching noises while starting the car. What could be the issue...? Thanks sue

ANSWER: Hmmm. Is this security light in the
instrument cluster or, like a blinking
light on the dash area?

Does the car start? Could be a passlock II
issue, but let me know about those
2 questions.

QUESTION: the light is a steady light in the instrument cluster and yes the car starts. Thanks again

Answer
Odd, and hard to figure out without hearing
the "scratching". I'd say run over to
the local GM service bay, and ask them to
do some inspecting. It's all covered under
a warranty right now I suspect, so have the
anomolies checked out while you can for free.

Best I can offer without being there to evaluate.

Let me know what they discover.
