QUESTION: i have a 1995 ford ranger with the factory alarm system.i left it at the airport for 2 weeks when i went to germany.when i got back,the batt was dead.i got a new one and it ran fine.i stopped at the store a few days later and it would't start.i raised the hood and jumped the relay,it cranked up.now,this happens 2,3 times a week now and i really need help!thank you,please reply.

ANSWER: Your alternator/charging system is suspect here.
If the battery drained down in 2 days, it's not
accepting a charge, or the battery is not storing
power any longer. Either way, you have a power
distribution issue.

I am leaning towards the first option however.

Have it looked at.

QUESTION: I am sorry,I forgot to inform you,the factory alarm system is keeping it from starting,the batt is fine,the motor turns over normally.

Then I have no idea short of having Ford diagnose it.
It's intermitent, which leads me to a power problem.
Go to the service dept. and find out.

And after market system would have a starter kill
relay inline. But you can start it, so I'd have to
look under the dash to know. Have it looked at,
or not. Up to you.
