Question
My Outback has begun making three short alarm sounds when it is running.
It  sounds out every 10 to 60 seconds and is very loud from the outside of the
car.  Also, the doors lock when this happens.  Since it takes me 20 minutes to
get anywhere I want to go this can get very annoying.  My mechanic
disconnected the sound but cannot get to the repair/removal for another 2
weeks.  He is recommending removal because he believes that it will take
hours to find the problem.  Do you have any insight?  Thank you for your
time.

Answer
Ms. Wendy,
Please try to put it into override.
Locate the valet switch under the dash area.
Then turn on the key, press and hold in the button
untill you get a responce from the siren or the
flashing lights. If it worked, it's
like the alarm was never there.
If not, I strongly suggest you have it pulled
by a local tech before the 2 weeks is up or you will
be annoyed.

Try to disable it for now, and let
me know if it worked.

Good luck.
