Auto Theft Prevention/Cobra alarm disable

Question
I bought a 98 Eagle Talon about 7 years ago. The owner said it has a Cobra alarm but he did not give me the manual. I lost the only (1) remote that would disable the car alarm. The alarm also would remote start my car. How do you disable this car alarm. I think I found the valet switch on the wall panel to left of the brake pad. But when I hold it in, nothing happens. Do I have to have the ignition on because that would activate the alarm? And also if the disable works, will the alarm go off or you have to turn the ignition off and then the alarm will be disable?

Answer
Don't know Cobra alarms, but most valet's are used as follows:

KEY ON, PRESS AND HOLD IN VALET UNTIL YOU GET A RESPONSE
FROM THE ALARM, THEN KEY OFF.

Once done, it should reset the alarm to override. If not,
you might consider removing it and putting in a system
you know how to control in all eventualities.
