Auto Theft Prevention/disabling factory alarm

Question
We bought a 1998 Ford Explorer XLT 4 wheel drive
I read your fix on disarming it but I need more detail. What is a kick panel? Do we spice the wire inside the door or?. The seller did not tell us that the drivers door key is lost and the remote alarm clicker doesn't work. I had 4 people today including Ford tell me that they could not disarm a factory installed alarm but would be happy to program a couple of keys for the drivers door for$170.00/
Please help. The alarm is preventing us from staring the vehicle and we have to keep pushing that hidden button to start. We just want it permanently disabled. Please help.....Thank you so much

Answer
The "kick" panel is the plastic covering the frame of the truck
at the left leg area. And no, no need to into the door.

You will need the new keys though. This truck also has the Ford PATS
ignition immobilizer system and requires the proper key to
start it. And it also may have an after market alarm.

Best bet is to start with the info you have on disabling it.
Then take it to a car alarm shop this time. NOT Ford.

Get a better perspective on getting around it there.

Good luck.
