Question
I have a friend who's new 2008 F-15- was stolen in the middle of the night. There was no sign of a break-in. He had coded keys to the truck, and kept both of them in his house. I am thinking of buying a new truck, but I am concerned that theives can still figure out to start them and steal them. Any ideas on how they are doing this?

Answer
Art,
:>( Um, to date, I have heard of no one who can simply
steal this truck without the right keys. The transponer/
fuel cutoff system (PATS), has billions of codes.
The odds of someone having access to a 7500.00 portable
Ford code reader/transmitter, and is steeling vehicles
using one is a pretty long shot indeed.

You could pick up and tow it of course, like in
reposession or, for too many tickets etc...but short
of that, no way.

This is a very "Hollywood" situation
in my past experience.
(Seems there may be more to the story
on this one I think).

So to answer you without insulting your friend there,
It's not likely this truck was "stolen: out of the blue.

Go ahead & buy your new truck or car man.
It'll be fine. :>)

Good luck.
