Auto Theft Prevention/2001 ford mustang
Expert: INSTALLSUPPORT - 12/7/2008
QuestionI am the most annoying of all question-askers. I do not have all the information. However I think I can offer everything you need to answer me. I hope. First of all it is a 2003 Ford Mustang Convertible. I don't have the money to buy such a nice gt right now but I got a steal because it was hit in the front and now the frame is repaired but it is not FULLY assembled. Owner has health problems.. you've heard this a million times....
Anyway, now. As I said, It was wrecked. It certainly does NOT have any sort of aftermarket alarm system because when this problem came up i checked it thoroughly.
When you turn the key on. The alarm starts. I learned last night that there is a sensor on the front of the car under the hood.. the hood is not currently on the car so this should be the culprit there.
Also. The keys were lost when it was delivered. No chance in finding them. I have not replaced the windshield yet and I don't have the money to tow it to Ford. It irritates me that i have a running engine and transmission here that i cant drive it around the shop.
The alarm is not a big issue as I am sure i can find what is triggering it. It has no wiring faults at all.. every inch looks clean. I am 80 % certain (visual is not everything)
If I buy an immobilizer bypass and a remote start kit.. I should be able to start it with a keyring??? that would be GREAT!!!!!!!!
One question...
How do i turn it off?
Thank you so much for your time..
Dustin
AnswerNo.
The short answer is that if the PATS system code
has been wiped, and you do not have 2 programmed keys
this will not work.
Sorry. You will need to put it all together, then tow
to ford for re coding.
I say contact ford service, and impart this story to
them. They will tell you it needs to be re keyed.
Wish I had more, but that's what I have experienced.
Good luck.
